Memory Books

New and returning water polo players and parents,
Sprague Water polo has always provided its players with a collection of photos and memorabilia put together in a "memory book".  first year players get a binder and their first set of pages.  Returning players get additional pages to add to their book.

Each page is a collage of individual photos from the year.  The individual pages often follow a theme.  Any year might see 6 to 10 pages.  Photos are collected throughout the year, and sorted by the parents.  Parents then get together to cut out images from the individual photos and put together the pages.  Once completed, the pages are then printed up (with copies for all players and coaches) and distributed at the team banquet.

This is an intensive and potentially expensive process.  In the past most of the photos and the majority of the printing were provided by Brian Wood, a parent and owner of Photovision. Brian has volunteer to continue with some of the service, even though all of his kids have moved on.

We cannot count on Brian to provide enough photos from the course of the year.  This is where you all come in.  Many of you take photos on a regular basis.  We need you to take photos of players, and a few of the coaches and parents.  We need you to take photos of all of the kids, not just yours.  Good photos, funny photos, action photos.  Good, in the water, playing polo photos are hard to get.  They are best done on sunny days, outside.  The weekend games at Illahee and the afternoons at Walker Pool are the best times.

Once you have photos, you should sort through and print (3x5, 4x6) the best and turn them in for collection.  You have to print them.  That cost was donated in the past by Brian.  Each of us will now assume a portion of that cost.

Brian will take team and individual photos in September.  Look for the dates.  They are usually done on Saturday when the light is best at Illahee.  There will be little opportunity for make up photos so make sure the players are available.

We will have examples of team photos and memory books at the Orange and White game. You will see how great they are, and realize that they take a bit of love and a lot of time to put together.

If there are any parents who want to take command of this project, let me know.
