Sprague Water Polo History:
Water polo in Salem was started at Sprague High School by Rod and Joyce Ashford in the summer of 1999. The boys and girls teams started out with 12 boys and 9 girls for their first season. The teams have both grown to a total of 40 to 50 players combined.
By the 3rd season Sprague Water Polo Boys team won a spot at the state playoffs. This was quite an accomplishment. Since then both teams have made numerous trips to the state playoffs.
Water Polo has grown in the Salem Community to include West Salem High and South Salem High.
